Set up multi-factor authentication

Enroll a TOTP authenticator, verify setup, and store backup codes.

Avara supports time-based one-time passwords through authenticator applications.

Enroll MFA

  1. Open Settings → Security.
  2. Start MFA setup and reauthenticate when required.
  3. Scan the QR code or enter the setup secret in your authenticator.
  4. Enter a current six-digit code to complete enrollment.
  5. Store the generated backup codes somewhere secure and separate from your device.

MFA is not active until the verification code succeeds. At future password or Google sign-ins, Avara can require the second-factor challenge before issuing the full session.

Workspace owners can require enrolled MFA for members. A member who has not enrolled is routed to the dedicated setup screen before product access.

Backup codes are recovery credentials. Each should be treated like a password and not stored in a shared workspace note.
